What’s New in 2021

2020 was a tough year for most of us. The endless lockdowns and social distancing measures have taken their toll on the performing arts such as music. In the beginning, many of my fellow musicians posted their content online. The initial excitement eventually wore off since everyone was doing it, there was nothing special – it became just another video recording. I staunchly believe that “online concert” is an oxymoron – live is live. Some music genres e.g. classical can only be experienced and appreciated live in person – not through a screen or tinny speakers. To think about it, I was glad that I managed to organise two concerts last year, right before the first lockdown in April and the second one in October. Suffice it to say that many of us miss playing music with each other.

It seems like the pandemic will still go on for a long time to come. Nobody is sure when or if things will ever get back to normal. For many, the economic impact cannot be overstated – musicians are not spared. Plus the fact that humans are social creatures, being disconnected from others is depressing. But life has to go on. This year, I have decided to focus on two things – online teaching and making videos on YouTube. Teaching has always provided a stable stream of income, although teaching online comes with its hurdles. As for content creation, I used to only publish videos of my performances. However since many people are at home, they may want to learn something that they are interested in. I hope that my tutorial videos can guide people to learn something about music.

So, I would like to announce my online violin lessons. I teach beginners to advanced students on Skype – to anyone anywhere in the world. Rate starts from RM100.00. Contact me to schedule a complimentary consultation lesson.
Student requirement: Violin & stable internet connection
